FORRÓ SEM PALAVRAS SHOW | LIVE MUSIC & DANCE SHOW

9:00 PM | FORRÓ CHAMBER PROJECT

In the first part of this Special party, we will present a unique project "FORRÓ CHAMBER PROJECT", featuring, the score conductor, Rafael Piccolotto de Lima, New-York and produced by Mohammed Mhirit.
The idea for this project has sprouted in the mind of Mohammed Mhirit since he met this young Brazilian Score conductor, Rafael Piccolotto de Lima, in New York. In Fact, Rafael has developed aunique concept "Forró Sem Palavras", which he produced and performed in the United States and Brazil.
The project consists to create a Big Band Orquestra, such as the classical Jazz band, by bringing together 12 musicians or more to play the classic Forró repertoire, with a personal interpretation of the young conductor.
Mohammed was so thrilled by this project, and decided to invite Rafael to the Montreal Festival.
"FORRÓ CHAMBER PROJECT" will be realized with Montreal musicians, for Montrealers and Brazilian public of Montreal.
We are proud to present you this show and we hope to entertain you so as to live an incredible moments in our Festival !

Nominated for the Latin Grammy as a classical composer in 2013, Rafael had works premiered and recorded by artists and ensembles such as the jazz legends Terence Blanchard, Chick Corea, Brad Mehldau and Brian Lynch, Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Brazil), Metropole Orkest (Netherlands) and Costa Rica National Orchestra.
Conducting started to take place of instrumental performance in his career since 2008. Instead of playing saxophone and leading mid and small ensembles, Rafael started conducting various orchestras and big bands, mostly featuring his own compositions and arrangements. A year after he started conducting he was selected to participate in the Brazilian TV competition “Prelude” for young classical musicians (2009)...

Zé Fua Band, conducting by Luciano Porto, Ottawa-Toronto

A multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer, and stilt artist Luciano was born and raised in the rural interior of Brazil inspired by his father's accordion playing. In 1992 Luciano moved to Toronto from Brasilia at the age of 16 and started to gain access to school band instruments. He stuck to classical guitar and made his debut performance with the University of Toronto Guitar Ensemble in 1995.
With an aptitude for practicing a variety of instruments, Luciano came to fall in love with his homeland's infamous percussion traditions.
From 2002 to 13 he focused mainly on percussive arts and became a regular performer for Toronto's Brazilian troupes Maracatu Nunca Antes and Batucada Carioca.
Simultaneously, Luciano started band projects (Mulambo Groove, Zé Fuá, Maracatall) in Toronto where he was frequently the lead singer and arranger as well as accordionist / guitarist / percussionist and performed extensively in festivals including the Gladstone World 2007 ...
